Bob Gill Trio

Mature, melodic jazz played by three of the country's most respected and experienced musicians: Bob Gill (guitar), Dave Lynane (double bass), and Dave Hassell (drums) - all strong solo voices experienced in many kinds of improvised music.

The music features jazz standards and Brasilian tunes played creatively with imagination and humour in the style of the guitar trio tradition of Barney Kessell, Tal Farlow, Bole Sete, with feeling and swing to the fore, yet never losing sight of the form.

Bob Gill (guitar)

Bob Gill is originally from Manchester and has been a professional musician since the 50s. He was busy on the Manchester scene before moving to London in the early 60s to become one of the most in demand players in London, playing sessions, shows etc, yet still finding time to play jazz with many of the top British and American artists, as well as leading his own group at many of the major jazz venues. Bob returned to Manchester in the late 70s and has since become one of the best kept secrets on the region's jazz circuit! His knowledge and experience is sought by many of the younger/professional guitar players, yet to this day Bob continues to practice and hone the gift and skills he was given in the endless pursuit of musical perfection.

Dave Lynane (double bass)

Dave Lynane has been the kingpin of many of the country's finest rhythm sections over the last 35 years, working as a professional musician in all styles of music: sessions, shows, films, orchestras light and classical, and is considered in many circles as the ultimate professional. His jazz pedigree in on a par with anyone, working with the legendary Maynard Ferguson for several years, and to this day he is still the first call double bass player for many of the visiting American artists. Past players who have called on his services are Barney Kessell, Tal Farlow, Johnny Griffin, Mundell Lowe, Eddie Lockjaw Davis, the list is endless. Dave's bold, forceful and focused playing, greatly influenced by the great Ray Brown, is a pleasure to see and hear in the these days of musical complexity.
